It is such a long time since my last blog! I hope this finds you well and resilient. We can all take a large breath of spring (albeit cold) air as we begin to emerge from a period of darkness, confinement and solitude, feeling a little tender and uncertain.
I have found my practice to be a life saver at times on the drearest and loneliest days. Some of the meditations that helped me through are available on my podcast – help yourself!
Mostly I have been working for our social enterprise Absolute Specialists Wellbeing which has been supporting home carers online for the last 6 months. 6 Focussed Mindfulness practitioners have been working with us and we have just concluded a project funded by Kirklees Council and The National Lottery where we supported over 70 home carers. Nearly 90% benefitted and two thirds felt significantly better after working with us. We are all pretty exhausted now and taking a well-earned breather while we consider the social enterprise’s next steps.
We had to postpone our retreat in Tibshelf, Derbyshire until September. We have two spaces available as sadly a couple of people could not make the new dates – so please let me know if you would like to come.
The 2021 training course in Focussed Mindfulness method is well under way, with 10 trainees. as always it is a wonderful group of people who are already changing their lives for the better and having a positive impact on their families, clients and work colleagues. Some of them are planning to join us in our work in communities through our social enterprise when they are fully trained. It will be exciting to be able to deliver more.
I am also training up gifted and experienced practitioners to become supervisors and Focussed Mindfulness trainers, they are bringing fresh insight and passion to Absolute Specialists and will allow the company to offer more training and support in future years.
I also gave a paper at the Complex Trauma Institute conference on our work.
So, as you see, I may have been quiet, but I have not been idle during the pandemic. Please get in touch and let me know how you are doing, it will be great to hear from you.
