Accreditation in the Focussed Mindfulness Method
To gain accreditation as an FMM practitioner you first take the foundation course which runs over a calendar year. In the following year you will be supported through supervision and peer group sessions as you begin to integrate the method into your established practice as a counsellor, psychotherapist or mindfulness guide. If you are new to the field you will complete, under supervision, around 50 sessions with a variety of clients. Once you feel ready and your trainers and supervisors are satisfied, through observing you and working with you in supervision and training sessions, that you are using the method intuitively and proficiently you can apply for a licence to practice.
In order to become an accredited FMM practitioner you will need your own insurance, to register with the ICO and, if you will be working with young or vulnerable people, an advanced DBS check.
You will also agree to abide by our code of ethics and other policies; commit to regular supervision and other training that will support your professional and personal development and attend an a number of AS training sessions to refresh your knowledge of FMM. In line with our ethos we naturally expect you to work with integrity and take responsibility for your own learning and conduct, so your learning journey will be agreed after discussions with your supervisor.
Your accredited status will be reviewed annually or at any point during the year if your conduct gives cause for concern. We have an appeals procedure.
